Doordat een leraar op de middelbare school fotografie les gaf, me leerde foto’s zelf te ontwikkelen en afdrukken, was het al gauw m’n wens als tiener om professioneel fotograaf te worden. Na een aantal maal uitgeloot te zijn voor de fotovakschool, heeft dit me er nooit van weerhouden te blijven fotograferen. Eerst op school de Boekenweek schrijvers en eindejaar projecten te hebben gefotografeerd. En in opdracht portretten van talloze kinderen. Ook later natuurlijk m’n vrouw en kind waren altijd een mooi onderwerp.
De laatste twaalf jaar heb ik samen met m’n dochter Anouk het spotten en fotograferen van vogels als hobby eigen gemaakt. Een hobby die wat ons betreft verslavend werkt. Daarbij komt dat je met zo’n hobby veel buiten bent in de natuur tussen de flora en fauna. Samen hebben we al vele wandelingen er op zitten en weten aardig wat meer. Ook heb ik los hiervan tijdens vakanties vogels gespot in vele natuurgebieden. Bijvoorbeeld in Indonesië in het prachtige N.P. West-Bali de Balispreeuw, in Sri Lanka N.P. Bundala de Indische kuifarend, in Spanje in N.P. Extremadura diverse gieren. Enzovoort. Van al deze avonturen maak ik kleine verslagjes op deze site.

WHO AM I
When I went to highschool there was a teacher who gave photography classes. He taught us how to develop and print your own pictures, therefore as a teenager I really wanted to be a professional photographer. Even after failing at the selections of the Photography school a few times, I was never hold back from making pictures. I began to make portraits of nationally famous writers and senior year projects. After that lots of assignments of fellow students. My wife and child were later the main subject of course.
For the last twelve years birdwatching and bird photography are a big hobby, together with my daughter Anouk. This hobby is very addictive if you ask us. Of course it’s so nice to walk outside and enjoy flora and fauna. We’ve made lots and lots of walks together, so also our knowledge expanded. I also snapped lots of birds on holidays in many National parks. The Bali starling in Indonesia for example, in Sri Lanka the Crested hawk eagle, in Extremadura Spain the Vultures etc. I made little reports of all of these adventures on this site.
